Animal Game

Meet back in one hour. Whoever has the biggest live animal wins.
Materials
A bucket for each member of the team.
How To Play
An out-of-the-box game that works well in a camp setting is the animal game.

To play, decide on a central meeting place. Then give each player a bucket. Tell players to meet back in one hour. Whoever brings back the largest live animal wins.

It is important to lay out some ground rules for this game. Some rules that are important are:

1) Hurting any animal is not allowed.
2) Boundaries for where they can go to get animals.
3) If a domesticated animal counts or not.
4) Any animals that are not allowed (i.e. stealing the camp snake from the aquarium)

Oh, and be sure to return the animals afterwards :)

I can count on 2 hands the number of ways this is irresponsible, and disrespectful. Don't send kids out to grab wildlife. Just don't. -Eilsel Nodrog (Feb 12, 2013)

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!? -Speechless (Feb 13, 2013)

Tried playing this on a class outing to Bristol zoo. Got my teaching license suspended. Nearly worth it. Recommend if you can get away with it. -Unemployed (Feb 15, 2013)

Amazing game. Highly recommend it to all. One group of ours came back with a horse... -Still got a job. (Jun 6, 2013)

This is literally disgusting. Children are in no way capable of securing an animal in a proper manner, or shouldn't be encourage in disturbing an animal in a habitat. - (Jun 11, 2013)

ha ha... I love it. -Chuckling (Jun 21, 2013)

Great game!! Decided to tweak it a little to add some challenge. If you can eat your live animal, you get extra points. -ignatious (Oct 9, 2013)

This is awesome. People freaking out about this...chill. --enjoy the world (Oct 9, 2013)

I played this in Northern Manitoba with my youth group on a trip. One kid came back with a polar bear and another came back with sasquatch. we couldn't decide which one was bigger so we had them wrestle. The polar bear won. Best youth trip ever!!! -Bob Loblaw (Oct 17, 2013)

We played this in my youth group once. The kids loved it until the raccoon started getting really angry. They found it in the dumpster out back and it was friendly for a while. None of the kids were bitten though. So much fun! Great game for the little ones. -Rabe Biesweet (Dec 13, 2013)

We played this at a camp by the ocean and one kid caught a Tuna off the coast... Needless to say we cancelled the pizza order that night. Best game ever! -Mr. Sushi (Mar 20, 2014)

This was so awesome at camp! Make sure your kids know the signs of rabies before hand. If it's foaming at the mouth, it's off limits! Other than that, everyone had fun! -Ruby S. (Jul 15, 2014)

One of our students wandered through this circular portal thing and ended up bringing back this weird snake looking thing from another planet. -Jack O'Neill (Aug 19, 2014)

This game is awesome! Jr. Higher named Steve got a stupid mouse but his friend Dale hit a opossum with a hammer (stunned it, lighten up) and won -Jacklikesbeans (Aug 27, 2014)

Has to be the right group. Played this with my kids in the swamps of the Serengeti. Interesting finds! You never know what the little whelps will drag back, or if they'll come back at all. But we sure set the bar high with this years winner! May he rest in peace. -Kenyan Wilderness Gu... (Dec 19, 2014)

Hilarious game! Last year one of our kids brought back a pair of tennis shoes! They belonged to his buddy, who fell down a ravine. -Lacey Dinkle (Dec 19, 2014)

Worked great for us because we have a park nearby! We found it worked best when we made some alterations though, gave each student a time limit, a handful of rocks, and 30 Safari Balls. We even handed out prizes at the end! -Prof. Oak (Dec 19, 2014)

Disrespectful of nature, dangerous to the animals and children -Hope this is a joke (Mar 19, 2015)

Easily the best game I've ever played! Note: India may not be the best place to send kids into the jungle after animals... -I heard a roar (Mar 20, 2015)

I couldn't decide whether the student brought the giant anacondo or the giant anaconda brought the student! It didn't matter in the end though because another kid found a pretty big wild buffalo. Who knew there were buffalo in Florida? -Do trolls count as a... (Nov 11, 2015)

10/10! Run a camp here in Alaska, and it became such a staple that the moose and bear population became endangered and we got shut down. I think the hunters were just embarrassed and whined a lot to Department of Fish and Game. :/ Anyways, the kids loved it. -Outdoor Ted (Mar 11, 2017)
